PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system provided with a desulfurization apparatus desulfurizing stably for a long period.

SOLUTION: A gaseous starting material supplied from a raw material tank connected detachably to prevent the flow-in of air through a raw material tank joint part is deoxygenated in a state where oxygen is actually absent through a deoxygenation means 310 in which deoxygenation agent such as iron powder is filled. The deoxygenated gaseous starting material is supplied to a desulfurizer 320 after a stabilized desulfurizing agent containing at least one kind of iron, nickel, copper, cobalt and manganese is previously reduced at a temperature close to normal temperatures to be desulfurized at 50-400°C and is reformed in a reformer 410.
