PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescent (EL) element with light-emission extraction efficiency to the outside enhanced. SOLUTION: A dispersion type electroluminescent element having a basic constitution wherein a back face sheet, a back-face side light-transmitting electrode, a luminescent layer with electroluminescence light-emitting particles dispersed in a dielectric phase, a front-face side light-transmitting electrode, and a light-transmitting front face protecting film are stacked in this order. In the electroluminescent device, the back face sheet is endowed with performance of light scattering reflection and the light-emitting layer exhibits performance of light scattering.
