PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetization method of a servo pattern having a servo signal of double amplitudes for eliminating the necessity of intensity change and waveform shaping when the servo signal is reproduced, enhancing accuracy of head positioning and enhancing track recording density. SOLUTION: The magnetization method of the servo pattern of a perpendicular recording discrete track medium having a plurality of recording regions and a plurality of servo regions separating the plurality of recording regions includes a step for recording magnetizations whose directions are perpendicular to a substrate and opposed to each other in magnetic recording layers in a plurality of servo blocks by using a magnetic field leaked from a soft magnetic layer separated from the other servo blocks when the magnetic field is applied.
