PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a thiol compound derivative by which an alkyl vinyl ether adduct composition of the thiol compound having excellent scorch stability and preservability over a long period of time can be obtained in high yield when compounded with an active chlorine-based acrylic rubber. SOLUTION: The method for producing the thiol compound derivative is characterized by carrying out an addition reaction of the thiol compound with a vinyl (thio)ether using an acidic catalyst and a reaction solvent, then washing the reaction solution with an aqueous solution of a basic compound and subsequently making the basic compound remain in the adduct produced by the reaction after washing the reaction solution with the aqueous solution of the basic compound. A technique of preferably making the basic compound remain in the adduct produced by the reaction is characterized by any of (1) a technique of directly distilling off a reaction solvent without carrying out a water washing step, (2) a technique of adding a small amount of the aqueous solution of the basic compound before distilling off the reaction solvent and then distilling off the reaction solvent and (3) a technique of distilling off the reaction solvent, isolating the adduct product and then adding a basic substance.
