PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charger for cellular phones that is compact and lightweight and is convenient when carried. SOLUTION: The charger is connected to a terminal 25 of a cellular phone 24. The charger is constructed of: a dry cell box 11 capable of housing a dry cell 14; a connector body 12 that is housed in the dry cell box 11 so that the connector body can be protruded and retracted and has at its outside end a connector portion 26 connected to the terminal 25 of the cellular phone 24; and contact portions 19, 23 that are provided at an inside end of the connector body 12 and inside the dry cell box 11 and are connected with the electrodes of a dry cell 14 to provide continuity therebetween when the dry cell 14 is housed in the dry cell box 11. When a dry cell 14 is not housed in the dry cell box 11 and the box is empty, the entire connector body 12 including the connector portion 26 is retracted into the dry cell box 11. When a dry cell 14 is housed in the dry cell box 11, the connector portion 26 is protruded from the dry cell box 11 so that the connector portion can be connected to the terminal 25 of the cellular phone 24.
