PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust abnormal noise inhibition device for an internal combustion engine capable of inhibiting generation of exhaust abnormal noise even when ignition timing is retarded to warm up a catalyst at an early stage. SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine provided with the catalyst 7 arranged in an exhaust gas passage and provided with an ignition timing retarding control means retarding ignition timing by a predetermined quantity for warming up the catalyst, is provided with an exhaust valve open timing change means changing open timing of the exhaust valve 30 with corresponding to cylinder pressure caused by retarded ignition timing when ignition timing is retarded by the ignition timing retarding control means.
