The invention relates to a device for detecting a falling of a body into the water of a pool, comprising a probe ( 1 ), which is immersed in the pool ( 20 ) and designed for transmitting aquatic waves that propagate in the pool. The probe is connected to a compression chamber ( 8 ) designed for measuring variations in pressure caused by these aquatic waves. An electronic unit ( 4 ) is designed for receiving and interpreting electrical signals representative of variations in pressure that are measured in the compression chamber. This electronic unit is designed for storing the signals generated by the pool and for alternating the operating mode of the device between a calm mode, a disturbed mode, and an agitated mode according to the value of the amplitude and to the value of the frequency of the electrical signals generated by the pool.
