The long channel optical cell has an inner hollow space. A cross section of the inner hollow space of the cell that is perpendicular to an optical axis and is filled with gases and liquids to be measured has a non-radial symmetric profile. The area of cross section is smaller than a circle having same maximum dimensions. An independent claim is also included for measuring absorption of gases and liquids by multiple laser beams.
