<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boat which prevents a molten metal and sludge that have crept out from the top surface of the boat from reaching to the bottom surface of the boat while flowing down along the side surface, and particularly a boat having cavities on both sides, which prevents the production of deposition sludge. <P>SOLUTION: The heating element for vaporizing a metal is formed of a sintered compact of an electroconductive ceramic with a rectangular parallelepiped shape, and has at least one groove with a width of 0.2 to 1.0 mm, a depth of 0.1 to 1.5 mm and a length of 50 mm or more provided on the two sides in a current-passing direction of itself in a direction parallel to the current-passing direction. In this case, (1) the heating element has at least two grooves provided on each of two sides so that the distance between the grooves, which is specifically a distance between adjacent grooves and does not include a groove width, is 0.5 to 1.5 mm.
