<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process cartridge in which before use, the separation of a predetermined distance between a charging roller and an image carrier can be maintained, and in use, the separation state of the charging roller can be released without increasing the burden of a user. <P>SOLUTION: A representative configuration of the process cartridge according to the present invention, includes a charging roller separation holding member 90 moveable between the first position to hold the separation of the charging roller 2 from the photosensitive drum 1 and the second position to make the charging roller 2 abut on the photosensitive drum 1.
