<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for a lithium secondary battery superior in charge and discharge cycle characteristics, and to provide its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The electrode for the lithium secondary battery has an active material thin film and this active material thin film contains an active material which stores and releases lithium. This active material thin film contains lithium and the content X of lithium in the active material thin film is 7%<X<35%.
