PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a communication mode used at a transmission side by a receiver for receiving a signal transmitted in an OFDM modulation system by one of CP, SP and differential modulation modes. SOLUTION: Multiplication means 5, 6 acquire the multiplication result of a reception signal and a signal having the one symbol time difference for each carrier. A first sum total means 7 totals the multiplication result for a plurality of carriers of one symbol. Second sum total means 12, 13 total the multiplication result at a TMCC carrier position of the CP mode included in one symbol. Third sum total means 16, 17 total the multiplication result at a TMCC carrier position of the SP mode included in one symbol. First determination means 11, 19 determine the CP mode.
