摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress alignment disorder of liquid crystal molecules caused by connection between sub-pixel electrodes, in a vertical alignment mode liquid crystal display device with the sub-pixel electrodes different in size connected to each other. <P>SOLUTION: A vertical alignment mode liquid crystal display device 50 is provided with an active matrix substrate 20 wherein a plurality of pixel electrodes 9 is arranged in a matrix. Each pixel electrode 9 is composed of a first sub-pixel electrode 9a, and a second sub-pixel electrode 9c which is connected to the first sub-pixel electrode 9a through a connecting section 9e and is larger than the first sub-pixel electrode 9a. The liquid crystal molecules 15 are permitted to radially align, with a rivet 13 at the center, for each of the sub-pixel electrodes 9a and 9c when a voltage is applied to a liquid crystal layer 40. The connecting section 9e is composed of a first branch section 9a' and a second branch section 9c' respectively extending in radial alignment directions of the liquid crystal molecules 15 of the sub-pixel electrodes 9a and 9c. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
