PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PDP capable of simultaneously attaining prevention of rise of discharge starting voltage, prevention of deterioration of discharge probability, and improvement of luminous efficiency. SOLUTION: The plasma display panel is provided with a front substrate as well as a rear-face glass substrate 4 opposed to each other through a discharge space, a plurality of row electrode pairs (X, Y) fitted at a front glass substrate 1 side, a plurality of column electrodes forming a discharge cell in a discharge space at each crossing point with the row electrode pair, and a phosphor layer 7 fitted at a position facing the discharge cell between the column electrode D and the row electrode pair (X, Y). Discharge gas containing xenon gas by 10 volume% or more in the discharge space, and magnesium oxide is contained in the phosphor layer 7. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
