PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel technique for measuring an accurate flow velocity, when measuring the flow velocity of gas. SOLUTION: This gas flow velocity measuring instrument 1 is provided with a plurality of laser diodes 2, 3 for generating lasers of different in wavelengths; a plurality of splitter 5A, 5B for splitting the lasers input respectively from the respective laser diodes 2, 3 into a plurality of lasers; a plurality of sets (set of 6A/7A and 8A/9A, set of 6B/7B and 8B/9B) comprising the first emitting part/photoreceiving parts and the second emitting part/photoreceiving parts for emitting/receiving the lasers split into the plurality by the splitter 5A, 5B, while respectively crossing the gas of a measuring object; a plurality of the first laser detectors 10A, 10B; a plurality of the second laser detectors 11A, 11B, and a control unit 12 for controlling laser generation from the laser diodes 2, 3.
