PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a repeater amplifier for suppressing the degradation of loop oscillation and waveform quality caused by the coupling of a transmission wave and repeating the wave as a transmission wave of stable communication quality. SOLUTION: A gain control means is provided with: a directivity coupler for distributing a radio frequency signal of a downlink; a variable gain receiving part for demodulating the distributed radio frequency signal to obtain reception data; and a variable gain control unit for performing the signal processing of the reception data to output a gain control signal. The variable gain control unit measures the communication quality of the radio frequency signal, compares the communication quality with a prescribed threshold, and when it is determined that the communication quality is worse, changes a device gain to a value decreased only by prescribed quantity to measure the communication quality. When the coupling is determined to be true, the device gain is changed to a set value increased only by prescribed quantity.
