PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid occurrence of an error state caused by the reduction of a consecutive imaging speed due to a light source detection operation and the incompletion of the light source detection operation. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus 200 has: light source detection means 207a and 207b detecting first information on a light source; a control means 223 which produces second information on the detection operation of the first information and focus control based on the detection result of the first information and performs the focus control of imaging optical systems 101a and 101b, using the second information, before each imaging operation; and a storage means 222 which stores one of the first information and the second information. When the detection operation of the first information is not completed before imaging operation of this time, the control means performs the focus control before imaging operation of this time by using information which is produced before the previous imaging operation and stored in the storage means.
