EXPANDABLE POLYSTYRENE OF REDUCED BLOWING AGENT CONTENT

An expandable polystyrene composition having a reduced content of blowing agent comprises: A. 100 parts by weight of at least one styrene polymer or copolymer or a mixture of the two; B. About 0.01 to about 2.2 parts by weight of at least one ester of at least one C<SUB>14-20</SUB> saturated monocarboxylic acid with at least one C<SUB>3-5</SUB> alkyl alcohol; C. About 0.01 to about 2.0 parts by weight of at least one C<SUB>20-60</SUB> saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon; D. About 0.0001 to about 0.5 parts by weight of at least one mono- alkylbenzene with a C<SUB>3-5</SUB> alkyl group; and E. About 0.1 to about 15 parts by weight of at least one expandable polystyrene additive; with the proviso that the amount of components B, C and D does not exceed about 3.8 parts by weight.
