<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutter for use in work for peeling each cover material alone from each of a plurality of covered wire rods with different wire diameters despite of a single cutter. <P>SOLUTION: When a cutting edge part 24a of this cutter 24 is made to cut in the cover material Ab covering the outer surface of a wire material Aa of a coated wire material A, either of respective edge 24b or 24c formed in the width-directional central part of the cutting edge part 24a is made to cut therein with its coming into contact with the outer face of the wire material Aa corresponding to the edge 24b or 24c, or is brought closer thereto to such an extent as preventing a cut-in relative to the outer face of the wire material Aa and equally making notches to the cover material Ab covering the wire material Aa.
