PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device capable of realizing a superior steering-back characteristic irrespective of the state of road surface.

SOLUTION: A current instruction value calculating unit has a steering-back compensation control unit 28 for calculating a steering-back compensation amount Isb* as a compensation component for returning a steering wheel to its neutral position. The steering-back compensation control unit 28 has a basic control amount calculating unit 31 for calculating a basic control amount εsb that becomes a basic component of the steering-back compensation amount Isb*. The basic control amount calculating unit 31 calculates the basic control amount εsb that may cause a steering wheel to be more strongly turned toward its neutral position as the absolute value of the detected steering angle θs increases. Then, the steering-back compensation control unit 28 integrates the basic control amount εsb and outputs a control amount based on an integrated control amount εINT that is the integrated value of the basic control amount εsb as the steering-back compensation amount Isb*.
