<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for aligning at least the front edges of several sheets arranged one above the other in a stack and maintaining the order of the sheets. <P>SOLUTION: A front edge stop for aligning the front edges of the sheets 4 is provided on one side of a stacking table 16 of the device. A supporting plate is arranged upstream of the stacking table and the stack of sheets with the front edges not aligned is placed on the supporting plate. A sheet feeder removes the sheets from the supporting plate and forms them in an overlapping stream with the front edges placed under the preceding sheets. A turning device 6 is arranged downstream of the sheet feeder and turns the overlapping stream in such a way that the front edge of each sheet is freely accessible. A conveyer device 17 is arranged downstream of the turning device, the sheets are moved by the conveyer device to form a new stack, and the front edges of the sheets are aligned at the front edge stop of the stacking table. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
