<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method that facilitate prompt installation of a network cable, that does not impair cable performance, and that eliminate waste of fibers left unused in a distribution cable. <P>SOLUTION: An external optical fiber cable 430 is routed to a splitter box 426 in a multi-dwelling unit or commercial building 400 where the cable fibers are terminated. One or more riser cables 424, each terminated at one end at the splitter box 426, are routed through a building shaft. The other end of each riser cable 424 is terminated at an aggregation box 10 associated with the floors. A feeder cable 418 is routed between the aggregation box 10 and each floor or a corresponding floor area. A drop box 10 is provided for each floor or floor area of one floor for terminating the corresponding feeder cable 418.
