PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a laser scanning optical apparatus achieving high-quality drawing by combining a plurality of semiconductor laser arrays having a plurality of light emitting sources. SOLUTION: The laser scanning optical apparatus is provided with n semiconductor laser arrays 301 and 302 having independently driven m light emitting sources 301a to 301d and 302a to 302d. The gaps between light emitting sources in a subscanning direction are adjusted for the respective arrays 301 and 302 by turning the respective arrays 301 and 302 and the relative positions of the light emitting sources 302a to 302d with respect to the light emitting sources 301a to 301d by moving an imaging position adjustment member 307 for the array 302. Further, when a horizontal synchronization signal is obtained by using a luminous flux emitted from the light emitting source 301a, the gap between the light emitting sources 301a and 302a in a main scanning direction is detected, the gap between the light emitting sources 301a and 301d, and the gap between the light emitting sources 302a and 302d in the main scanning direction are detected, and respective light emitting sources are modulated and controlled in the horizontal synchronization.
