PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical splice that ensures connection between optical fibers and that reduces the likelihood of fall-off of the connected optical fibers. SOLUTION: In a housing 2, there are formed a sleeve storing recess 31 for storing a metallic sleeve 10, a first optical fiber storing groove 32 for storing one optical fiber, and a second optical fiber storing groove 33 for storing the other optical fiber.
