PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convertible fishing reel allowing more efficient line casting and line retrieval. SOLUTION: The convertible fishing reel has a unique design to allow for a more efficient line casting and line retrieval. In order to accomplish this, the reel comprises two separate components of a main-body chassis and a spool chassis. The spool chassis is connected to at least one support arm of the main-body chassis. The connection is carried out such that the spool chassis can be rotated 90 degrees within the spool chassis, while being perpendicular to the main-body chassis in a line casting position and parallel to the main-body chassis in a line retrieval position.
