PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel immunostimulating oligonucleotide composition, a useful method based on immunostimulating activity of the oligonucleotide, a neutral oligonucleotide, a useful method using the neutral oligonucleotide, an immunity-inhibiting oligonucleotide and several applications of the immunity-inhibiting oligonucleotide. SOLUTION: The immunostimulating oligonucleotide comprises at least one nucleic acid sequence of formula I: 5'X1X2CGX3X43', wherein CG is a non-methylated CpG dinucleotide imparting an immunostimulating ability to the oligonucleotide; at least one of X1and X2is purine; and at least one of X3and X4is pyrimidine.
