PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely take a desired photograph even while an object moves quickly. SOLUTION: When a release switch is determined to be turned on (step 104), a reference image corresponding to a part of a picture to be photographed is extracted, U data and V data of the reference image are detected, and average values thereof, namely, U0 and V0 are calculated (step 105). Each time when a predetermined time lapses from obtaining the reference values U0 and V0, a comparative image in the same region as the reference image is extracted from the picture to be photographed, U data and V data of the comparative image are detected, and average values thereof, namely, Un and Vn are calculated (step 106). If an absolute value of the difference between the comparative values Un and Vn and the reference values U0 and V0 is greater than a predetermined value, recording operation is performed to record the image on a recording medium (step 109).
