摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface property identifying device exhibiting an improved durability when the surface property of a measurement object is identified by making a probe sliding-contact the surface; a sheet material identifying device, and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: In an S-shaped surface property detection sensor 125, a sheet material 7 is scanned with the contacting top portion of a S-shaped prove 15a, so that distortion is induced by the vibration and impact corresponding to the ruggedness and the frictional coefficient of the sheet material on the surface, and a piezoelectric element 15b thereby generates an electrical signal, whereby the surface property of the sheet material is identified based on the difference in intensity between the electrical signals. The S-shaped prove 15a has a zirconia chip 16, which is a sheet-shaped ceramic chip, in the top contact portion.
