The aim of said invention is to increase the accuracy of identification. The inventive iris identification method consists in recording the iris colour image, in processing it in several different spectral (colour) ranges and in forming an identification code according to each range, wherein a person is identified by the coincidence of the identification codes in all processed spectral ranges. In the other variant, the iris identification method consists in recording the iris colour image, in processing it in the same several different spectral (colour) ranges and in forming an identification code according to each range, wherein a person is identified by the coincidence of the identification codes in several or in all spectral ranges.
