<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to change a cache structure (for example, cache block size) according to a parameter currently recorded on a recording medium (for example, cluster size information). <P>SOLUTION: On detecting that a compact memory card is set, a parameter acquisition section 421 acquires parameters required to determine a structure of a directory cache (for example, cluster size information) from the compact memory card, and notifies the acquired parameter to a cache structure determination section 422. Based on the parameter (cluster size information) notified by the parameter acquisition section 421, the cache structure determination section 422 determines the structure (size of cache block or number of cache blocks) of the directory cache secured in a certain area of RAM.
