<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document processing device and a document processing method determining whether to insert a space character between characters in a character string extracted from a document file not including a space character code, and inserting the space character code between the characters where the space character code is determined to be inserted. <P>SOLUTION: The space character can be more accurately inserted because conditions used for determining whether to insert the space character are changed based on the determined result of an equal-spaced character string or not, a heading character string or not, the kind of characters such as a Japanese character or a European character.
