The present invention relates to an nucleic acid which is suitable for evaluating the progression potential of cervical lesions, wherein the nucleic acid is obtainable by a process in which RNA from early and late passages of HPV-immortalized cells is isolated and the RNAs characteristic for the early passages and late passages, respectively, are identified and provided as DNA or RNA. Furthermore, the present invention concerns polypeptides coded by such a nucleic acid. In addition, it covers antibodies directed against the polypeptides. Moreover, it relates to the use of the DNA and the polypeptides as well as a kit suitable for evaluating the progression of cervical lesions.
