<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt transporting apparatus and an image heating apparatus preventing belt bias travel by an inexpensive and simple mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: Shape memory alloy spring members 209a and 209b (heat responsive members) are installed facing both end parts of a fixing belt for pressing (pressing belt) 204 in a width direction of the belt. When the pressing belt 204 is biased to one side in the width direction of the belt during travel, a spring member 209b is deformed in response to heat of the pressing belt 204 which is heated by having the end part of the belt come close. A roller rocking supporting frame 205 on a belt end part side brought close by acting force due to deformation of the spring member 209b is lifted in the direction of gravity with a rocking pin 206 as a supporting point. Such rocking is alternately repeated with the spring member 209a on the other side and inclination of the pressing belt 204 is corrected. Bias correction like that can be carried out; without using any special acting mechanism, without any bias detection sensor, with a simple structure, and at low expense. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
