AIRBAG DEVICE FOR KNEE PROTECTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag device for knee protection capable of suppressing the projection of an airbag to a driver side during the deployment and inflation and compactly mountable.

SOLUTION: This airbag device for knee protection is mounted on the lower part side of a column cover covering a steering column projected from an instrument panel rearward. The folded airbag 47 receives an inflation gas from an inflator 41 contained in the airbag 47 eccentrically to the rear side of a case, deployed and inflated longitudinally and laterally while projecting from the case, and arranged forward of the knee of the driver. The airbag 47 is contained in the case by folding it to the side of a column side wall part 49 while reducing the lateral width dimension L2 without vertically overlapping the lateral both portions of the mounting part 50 of the case with the inflator 41, and positioning the folded portion 63 of the portion forward of the mounting part 50 parallel to each other forward of the inflator 41.
