<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide alloy compositions with improved diffusion properties for use in bond coats in a gas turbin engine, and to provide articles comprising the same. <P>SOLUTION: The improved compositions for the protection of gas turbine parts at elevated temperatures are of the MCrAlY type, wherein M is selected from nickel, or a combination of nickel with cobalt, iron, or combinations thereof. The compositions further comprise ruthenium, rhenium, or a combination thereof, a Group 4 metal e.g. hafnium, zirconium and titanium, and further may comprise silicon and/or germanium, wherein the composition results in improved aluminum diffusion properties.
