PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of reducing the power consumption of an electronic shelf lavel. SOLUTION: The electronic shelf lavel system is provided with a plurality of electronic shelf lavels and a distribution side device. The electronic shelf lavels are arranged corresponding to merchandise and display merchandise data relating to the corresponding merchandise. The distribution side device transmits the merchandise data to the respective electronic shelf lavels. Then, the electronic shelf lavels repeatedly execute the sleep operation of stopping a prescribed function for prescribed time at an interval, and the prescribed time is elongated when the data are not received for fixed time.
