Disclosed is a fluorescent lamp (1) comprising a fluorescent tube (2) and a base (3) arranged at the end part of the fluorescent tube (2), wherein the base (3) is formed with a resin and the resin has an UV-absorbing layer formed on its surface. Preferably, the UV-absorbing layer contains an UV-absorbing material and the UV-absorbing material comprises an inorganic particle. The inorganic particle is preferably composed of at least one member selected from the group consisting of TiO<SUB>2</SUB>, ZnO and CeO<SUB>2</SUB>. It becomes possible to provide a fluorescent lamp having a base which enables to completely separate UV ray from a base-forming resin and also enables to exhibit the UV absorption effect satisfactorily over a long period.
