METHOD FOR TREATING SELENIUM-CONTAINING WASTE WATER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for simply treating selenium-containing waste water at a low cost.

SOLUTION: The method for treating selenium-containing waste water comprises the steps of: adding salt or a metal ion to the selenium-containing waste water as a chemical for forming a sulfate ion and hard-to-dissolve salt; and adsorbing selenium in the selenium-containing waste water on a resin and removing the selenium-adsorbed resin. When the hard-to-dissolve salt is formed by adding the chemical, the formed hard-to-dissolve salt may be separated/removed from the selenium-containing waste water and then selenium in the selenium-containing waste water may be adsorbed on the resin and the selenium-adsorbed resin may be removed. The chemical for forming the hard-to-dissolve salt may be alkaline-earth metal salt such as barium salt or an ion such as the metal ion.
