STORAGE CONDITION ESTIMATING DEVICE FOR NOx STORAGE CATALYTIC CONVERTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage condition estimating device for a NOx storage catalytic converter, enabling to reliably measure a NOx storage amount by using reduced technical expenses.

SOLUTION: The storage condition estimating device is provided for the NOx storage catalytic converter for storing nitrogen oxide in exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine. It comprises: a measuring device for measuring a difference between the concentration of oxygen existing in exhaust gas on the upstream side of the NOx storage catalytic converter and the concentration of oxygen existing in exhaust gas on the downstream side of the NOx storage catalytic converter; and an estimating device for estimating the storage condition of the NOx storage catalytic converter in accordance with the oxygen concentration difference.
