PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a part for removing foreign substances from a melt in which the problem of disposal treatment after use is reduced, and which is applicable to the production of a large and heavy casting, and can produce a casting of high strength and high quality. SOLUTION: Disclosed is a part for removing foreign substances from a melt which comprises: a filter holder constituted of a structure comprising organic fibers, inorganic fibers, and a thermoset resin; and a heat-resistant filter.
