<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular obstacle detecting device capable of restricting the annoyance of an occupant. <P>SOLUTION: This vehicular obstacle detecting device 2 comprises a millimetric-wave radar 3 for detecting an obstacle in front of an own vehicle, an operating equipment control means 10a for controlling operating equipment 14 and 15 of the own vehicle 1 by receiving obstacle detecting information from the millimetric-wave radar 3, a static article determining means 10b for determining whether an obstacle detected by the millimetric-wave radar 3 is a static article or not, and a position determining means 10c for determining whether the obstacle exists in a position wherein the preceding vehicle has passed through or near there or not when the obstacle is determined as a static article by the static article determining means 10b.
