PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data management device capable of reducing processor processing related to update of a counter retaining a count value and shortening the processing time thereof, and an addition control device therefor. SOLUTION: In the data management device 10, when a processor 11 updates a print counter 16 by adding a predetermined addition value to a count value retained in the print counter 16 assigned to a predetermined area of a nonvolatile memory 13, addition information including the addition value is written to an addition control part 15 of an ASIC 12. The addition control part 15 to which the addition information is written reads the count value from the print counter 16 within the nonvolatile memory 13, calculates a writing value by adding the addition value to the read value, and writes the writing value to the original print counter 16, whereby update of the counter is performed.
