PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the responsiveness of temperature detection. SOLUTION: A driver IC 52 has a temperature sensor 44 whose output voltage continuously varies, in response to the temperature variation of the driver IC 52, and a comparator 45 for outputting a temperature detection signal, when the output voltage of the temperature sensor 44 matches the reference voltage from a temperature detection circuit 65. The temperature detection circuit 65 comprises a PWM (pulse width modulation) signal generating circuit 41 for generating a PWM signal; a PWM controller 42 for performing pulse width modulation of the PWM signal; and a smoothing circuit 43 for smoothing the PWM signal and generating the reference voltage. The temperature detection circuit 65 detects the temperature of the driver IC 52, based on the pulse width of the PWM signal when the temperature detection signal is output. The PWM controller 42 performs pulse width modulation of the PWM signal so as to sweep the reference voltage, in a range corresponding to the range from the highest temperature signal Smax to the minimum temperature signal Smin input from the outside.
