PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce changes in output due to axial displacement errors. SOLUTION: A torque sensor includes an input shaft 1 (rotary shaft) to which prescribed residual stress or plastic strain is added, a pinion gear 1a provided for an end part of the rotary shaft 1 for transmitting power to a rack shaft 6, a coil 11 for detecting changes in magnetic permeability to rotation torque input to the rotary shaft 1, and a plurality of bearings 3-5 for rotation-freely supporting the rotary shaft 1 to a casing 2.
