PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device capable of acquiring in a short period of time the road traffic information of an area which a user needs. SOLUTION: The navigation device comprises an information receiving means 31 for receiving road traffic information and a sending unit's characteristic number information; a match data storage means 32 for storing in advance the data on the match between the characteristic number information and the direction of a predetermined area; and an information acquisition means 33 for acquiring the road traffic information of the area according to the match data.
