A location tracking system and a method thereof are provided to enable a terminal of a ward to transmit self location coordinates to a terminal of a guardian by operating the coordinates if the ward's terminal is isolated from the guardian's terminal at more than certain intervals, thereby automatically notifying a parent of a child's location. A mobile communication terminal of a child(200) receives a navigation message signal from a GPS(Global Positioning System) satellite(300) by confirming whether reception field strength of a short-range wireless communication channel gets lower at less than a threshold value, operates location coordinates by using the message signal, and transmits the location coordinates through a mobile communication network. A terminal of the parents(100) receives and displays the location coordinates sent by the ward's terminal.
