<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the intake/exhaust valve drive control unit with excellent response. SOLUTION: This intake/exhaust valve drive control unit comprises a control shaft 27, a hydraulic cylinder 28 and a control plate 34. The control shaft 27 is connected to the control mechanism which variably controls the operating angle of the intake/ exhaust valve and operates the control mechanism in accordance with the angle of rotation. The hydraulic cylinder 28 is positioned at a right angle with respect to the axial direction of the control shaft 27. The control plate 34, fixed to the control shaft 27 so as to externally protrude therefrom in its radial direction, connects the control shaft 27 to the hydraulic cylinder 28 and converts the linear motion of the hydraulic cylinder 28 into the rotary motion of the control shaft 27. The control plate 34 and the hydraulic cylinder 28 are so connected that they will be positioned at a right angle with respect to each other in the ordinary speed range of the engine. The displacement of the hydraulic cylinder 28 with respect to the rotary motion of the control plate 34 is of a minimum value in this state, wherein the control plate 34 and the hydraulic cylinder 28 are positioned at a right angle with respect to each other.</p> |
