A clamp (10) is disclosed which is for mounting upon an elongate underwater member such as a marine riser. The clamp 10 serves to axially locate fairing units (108) used to suppress vortex induced vibration. In order to reduce correlation between vortices shed from neighboring fairing units 108, the clamp shells forming the body of the clamp 10 are provided, at intervals around their outer periphery, with vortex tripping features (104). |
