A digital broadcasting signal, and an apparatus and a method for processing the digital broadcasting signal are provided to process time information defined in a descriptor as effective information if the descriptor defining the time information is parsed, thereby transmitting time information after a specific time and securing compatibility with an existing receiver. A method for processing a digital broadcasting signal comprises the following steps of: parsing a descriptor included into the digital broadcasting signal, wherein the descriptor indicates information about time in a specific table out of plural PSIP(Program and System Information Protocol) tables with a GPS(Global Positioning System) second value(S601); and setting the time of a receiver by using the information about time in the parsed descriptor or generating a DB, and displaying a display request for a current time and an EPG(Electronic Program Guide) display request/control after generating the DB(S602,S603).
