A device for setting a story theme-type mobile phone background screen is provided to insert or synthesize photos or images of a user's key figures such as family, friends, lovers or the user himself or herself into or with various story theme-type flash screens, thereby using the screens as the user's own peculiar and unique mobile phone idle screens. A user sets a photo or a character of a particular figure to digital data on the user's mobile phone or computer, and makes an image(S1). The photo or character is transmitted to a web site on the Internet(S2). The user selects a desired idle screen from idle screen data stored in the web site, and interfaces the selected idle screen(S3). The transmitted image is inserted into or synthesized with the interfaced idle screen(S4). A completed theme-type idle screen is examined(S5). The completed screen is transmitted to the user's mobile phone(S6). The theme-type idle screen is registered as an idle screen of the mobile phone(S7).
